Jellied Reels Ceilidh Barn Dance Band: Quotes Thanks guys! We had a great wedding day. Everyone enjoyed the band and the dancing bride and groom Paula and David Hudson

Hi, we're The Jellied Reels, a Bristol-based Ceilidh and Barn Dance Band with a non-traditional attitude to traditional tunes.

Our line up of Squeezebox, Guitar, Keyboards, Bass and Drums gives the band a good stompy feel with plenty of rhythm for the dancing.  We also "call" the dances, which means we tell you the moves before you start and then remind you as the dance progresses. It's easy! :-)

We have an energetic and engaging style but we are totally professional when it comes to making sure your event goes as well as possible

The News:
Dai in "Got Married" Shocker
Youth though he is Dai finally gave in to the temptations of convention and married Hannah in early 2009. The band played the celebration and hand fasting in May where we discovered lots of interesting things about Dai from his Dad, an old rocker himself. Dad Alan even joined us on stage for a rousing chorus of the Everly's Dream and, being Scots hissel' 500 Miles ... Congrats to Dai and Hannah and may it be as successful as Dave's and Graham's and much, much longer than Si's ...

Dai "carded" in Age Shocker!
Setting up to play the fundraiser for St Aidans this year we remembered it was BYOB and so Dai went off to the offie to get supplies. It turns out that his youthful attitude and hairstyle are working as he was asked for proof of his age ..... Dai is 31 ... We are now considering doing a fundraiser for the Off Licence keeper's eye test :-)

A Hot Cold Night in Coaley
This year's Save the Children fundraiser at Coaley on Feb 7th proved to be a bit of a challenge, weather wise. Not only was Coaley under snow for the week beforehand but so was Steve's car and the roads in his village. We seriously thought that he would not be able to get out without borrowing a 4wd and that we'd all be stuck in Coaley overnight as the temperature plummeted to minus 12. In the end cloud saved us and all was well but our normal playing gear was augmented by sleeping bags, Thermos flasks and mars bars as we prepared for a cold night sleeping on the hall floor.
However the tough people of Coaley all turned up, we even had some refugees from the abandoned Stroud Ceilidh, and we all had a really good time. Pat and the team raised over £600 for Save the Children and we're all signed up for next year, our tenth time there. Brilliant!

Email Problems
We've occasionally have a few problems with emails bouncing replies. We hate to appear rude so please include a phone number when you email us and at least we can call you if we can't get an email through. Thanks.

The SDC123 - at - hotmail.com account was hacked in Feb 09 and a spoof message sent out to all on its address list. We apologise if you got one but hope it was obvious that it was nothing to do with us.
Cheers, Simon

Young People Like Ceilidhs - Official
It says in fRoots magazine that young people have discovered the fun of ceilidh dancing to rocky bands like ours. We'd noticed it, especially at the Trowbridge Village Pump Festival where the tent was hopping but it's nice to get things confirmed by the authority ...  Read the fRoots feature here
